The game streaming service will go live starting at 9:00AM Pacific Time that morning. November 19th is also when the first Stadia Founder Edition sets should be delivered to the first folks who pre-ordered. The Founders Edition set, in case you need a reminder, includes a Chromecast Ultra, a limited edition Night Blue Stadia controller, plus a 3-month Stadia Pro subscription and a 3-month Stadia Pro buddy pass. Stadia Pro is Google’s subscription service that offers a Netflix-for-games experience for $10 per month. Some of those games will include Red Dead Redemption 2, Mortal Kombat 11, and Kine.
We’re still waiting for an official announcement from NVIDIA, but the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro is up for pre-order from Amazon for $200 with an estimated ship date of October 28th. Like previous versions, the new model supports 4K HDR video playback and it can run some Shield-exclusive video games. There’s also support for streaming games over the internet using NVIDIA’s GeForce Now service. What’s new is a new Tegra X1+ processor that NVIDIA says brings 25-percent faster performance, a new remote control with a weird triangular-shaped design and far more buttons than its predecessor and support for Bluetooth 5.0.
The Epic Game Store’s battle against the PC gaming monopoly of Steam continues. For many months, the vocal opposition has made it very clear that they are unhappy with Epic’s strategy of buying timed exclusivity deals with games, thus beating Steam to the punch of some of the most highly-anticipated releases. However, despite the apparent dislike of the moves and he boycott claims, it is starting to bear fruit for the upstart launcher. With the recent reports making the Epic Games Store look even more appealing to PC game developers, the competition may be starting to wear on Valve’s titanic platform.
However, I, and many others, are getting pretty frustrated with how the company is handling the rollout of Android 10 to the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. Three weeks ago today, on September 21, the company announced on its official forums that a stable rollout of Android 10 was starting for the OnePlus 7 series. This didn’t make OnePlus the first company to push a stable build of the latest version of Android to a handset, but proved it is still one of the fastest companies in the industry in that metric.
